A regular rubbish collection service for the Utopia homelands in Central Australia will soon be operating in the remote community following a grant of $150,000 from the Australian Government.

The Government has provided the funding to the Barkly Shire to purchase a rubbish compactor truck and deliver an awareness program on the introduction of wheelie bines for the homelands.

Paroo Shire Council, based in Cunnamulla in far south west Queensland received their new Russ 8 cubic metre Kerbside collection system. The unit is used for all household waste collection services throughout Cunnamulla and some surrounding areas.
This is the second Russ Minipactor system delivered to the Shire.
